Samsung/SAIC Collab 2
This project combined a team of SAIC faculty and alumni in collaboration with Samsung to investigate Millennials & Fashion Wearables.
During the Winter of early 2016, in a design team led by Julka Almquist, we conducted design research interviews, synthesized the data while leading brainstorming sessions together with members of the Samsung Mobile Technology design team to come up with new product concepts to be presented to Samsung in Korea.
Design Research
We synthesized research from interviews of local Chicago Millenial-aged participants into design opportunities. Then we investigated trends in fashion and wearable technology and conducted our own product testing of existing wearable electronics and interviewed users about their usage while introducing quick prototype props to aid in the interviewing process. These resulted in product insights and directions that were developed through brainstorm sessions with members from the Samsung design team into discreet product concepts. I was responsible for hand-sketching product concept renders in a package presented to Samsung.
Due to the confidential nature of the project, I am unable to go into further detail about the final concepts presented to Samsung except that they were used to inform the future design of mobile electronic devices.
